At a young age, Toi wrote and told stories; that gave insight into her wild imagination. Toi is described by her close family, as a storyteller and warrior. This collection of poetry became inspired by her mother, who published her first poem, when Toi was a child. Growing up in the 90s in Bronx, New York, then moving to Virginia during her puberty era, she gives readers a journey through finding herself. Toi's poetry interweaves many forms of text that helps gives true meaning to her words.
